Join Dr. Martin Rice as he highlights how to locate and identify constellations in the night sky and techniques for observing features of the Moon and selected deep sky objects. We'll begin with a brief lecture followed by an outdoor observing session, weather permitting.
Dr. Martin Rice is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown. He received his Doctoral degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, OH and his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the College of New Jersey. He advises the Pitt-Johnstown astronomy club, is, and has been, a featured speaker at various star parties, including the Mason-Dixon Star Party and the David Levy Adirondack Astronomy Retreat. His current teaching duties include Logic, and courses in the Philosophy of Mathematics, History, and Science.
