Abby's Mosaic Mining Map

Add to plan Remove from plan

This cache takes you to a very interesting mosaic map created by the AMD & ART project that was completed two years ago in the area. The Abby piece of the cache name really has nothing to do with the cache itself, it's our daughter who was with us when we placed the cache.
This is a map of Vintondale, PA as it looked in the early 1900's. Around the map are other tiles which picture different scenes from around town at the time. Directly across the trail was a mine entrance which is still draining today. Access to the cache is from either direction on the ghost town trail but the closest place to park is the listed parking coordinates. Cache is a small plastic container with a few random coins. Bring your own pen and stay out of the orange stuff. The cache is NOT under the http://bridge.Abby's Mosaic Mining Map This is Featured Cache #24 of the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Geotrail, which highlights the scenic and historic amenities of the area. Be sure to collect and record the Geotrail Code Word from in (or near, in the case of micros) the cache to your official Geotrail Passport, which can be obtained from the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. A map and list of all caches featured in the Geotrail can be found at Map Link or they can be bulk downloaded from the bookmark list.
